In a bid to establish strategic partnerships with the Government of The Gambia, Trecco paid a courtesy visit to the High Commissioner of The Gambia, His Excellency Ambassador Mohamadou Musa-Njie, at the Gambia House in Abuja on Tuesday 27 January 2026. The engagement formed part of Trecco's broader regional strategy to deepen public and private collaboration in support of inclusive economic development and sustainable agriculture across Africa.
Discussions during the meeting focused on promoting smooth and efficient financial transactions while advancing financial inclusion for farmers, particularly smallholder and emerging agribusinesses. By improving access to identified financial solutions, Trecco seeks to empower farmers to scale production, enhance productivity, and achieve improved agricultural outcomes.
Strengthening bilateral trade
Beyond financial inclusion, Trecco outlined its commitment to strengthening bilateral trade relations between Nigeria and The Gambia, with a shared vision of fostering cross-border collaboration that supports farmers, agribusiness value chains, and long-term economic growth. Central to this vision is Trecco's effort to promote an African export and import facilitation strategy, including trade-enabling credentials and platforms that simplify market access for African producers.
The engagement also explored opportunities for collaboration within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). By aligning with AfCFTA objectives, Trecco aims to reduce trade barriers, expand intra-African trade, and enable African farmers and enterprises to access regional and continental markets more efficiently.
Technology across the value chain
In addition, Trecco emphasized the role of technology-driven solutions in transforming Africa's agricultural and trade ecosystems. Through digital financial services, trade facilitation tools, and data-driven platforms, Trecco seeks to support technological advancement that enhances transparency, efficiency, and competitiveness across the agricultural value chain.
Through this strategic engagement, Trecco reaffirms its commitment to promoting African exports and imports, expanding access to finance for farmers, strengthening regional trade integration, and contributing to the growth of a resilient, technology-enabled African economy.
